# We’re supporting the Queen’s Green Canopy Initiative

**The Queen’s Green Canopy** is a unique tree planting initiative created to mark **Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee**, celebrating 70 years of service to the United Kingdom. This nationwide campaign invites individuals, community groups, schools, and organisations to **“Plant a Tree for the Jubilee”**, with the aim of creating a network of trees that will serve as a lasting tribute to the Queen’s legacy. Participants are encouraged to register their trees on the **[Queen’s Green Canopy interactive map](https://www.royal.uk/queens-green-canopy)**, highlighting the collective efforts of communities across the country to improve the environment for future generations.

As part of this initiative, **Holroyd Howe** is supporting schools across the country in contributing to this national project. Each participating school will receive **two native trees**—a **crab apple** and a **wild pear**. These tree species have been chosen for their positive environmental impact, particularly their ability to attract pollinators such as bees and other beneficial insects through their seasonal blossoms. This supports biodiversity and offers students a practical connection to nature within their school environment.

To enhance the educational value of this initiative, schools will also be provided with **supporting materials**, including **posters and worksheets**, designed to raise awareness among pupils about the importance of trees, biodiversity, and sustainability. These resources will help integrate the project into the wider school curriculum, encouraging pupils to think critically about their role in protecting the environment.

This initiative aligns closely with Holroyd Howe’s ongoing commitment to **sustainability**, particularly in the way it informs our food offer and educational outreach.
