Bringing regenerative farming to our tables

As a trusted independent school catering partner, our role extends beyond preparing and serving meals. The choices we make every day connect us to the wider food system, from the farms that produce our ingredients to the pupils who enjoy them.

We believe that great food starts long before it reaches the plate. It begins with the farmers, growers and producers who work to produce high-quality food while caring for the land and natural environment.

That’s why regenerative farming is becoming an increasingly important consideration within our sustainability journey.

Regenerative farming brings together a range of agricultural practices that aim to support soil health, encourage biodiversity and strengthen the long-term resilience of farming systems. While approaches and outcomes can vary between farms, we recognise the potential these practices have to contribute to a more sustainable food system.

This perspective influences how we think about sourcing ingredients, building relationships with suppliers and balancing environmental considerations alongside quality, nutrition and taste. As we continue to develop our approach, we are seeking opportunities to work with suppliers who are adopting regenerative farming practices and share our commitment to responsible food production.

It also aligns with our belief that school dining can be an opportunity for learning. Food has the power to spark curiosity and conversation, helping young people better understand where ingredients come from and the journey they take before reaching the plate. By introducing products sourced from farms using regenerative approaches, we can help pupils explore different methods of food production and develop a greater appreciation for the people and processes behind their meals.

Knead for Change

Programmes such as Knead for Change help bring this to life. By training our chefs to bake bread from scratch using flour sourced from farms adopting regenerative practices, we are supporting culinary skills development within our teams while helping create demand for ingredients produced through these farming approaches. The result is food with a story, connecting craftsmanship, farming and education in a meaningful way.

Ultimately, our interest in regenerative farming reflects a broader ambition to contribute to a more resilient and responsible food system. It informs how we buy, how we cook and how we engage pupils with food, while supporting our ongoing efforts to make thoughtful, informed choices about the ingredients we serve.
