# Fuelling Future Champions at Bede’s Table Tennis Academy

## Holroyd Howe’s Partnership with Bede’s Table Tennis Academy

We believe exceptional performance begins with exceptional nutrition. That is why we are proud to sponsor the Bede’s Table Tennis Academy, an exciting high-performance programme at Bede’s that is helping shape the next generation of British table tennis talent.

Founded in the 2025/26 academic year, the Academy provides an elite training environment for talented young athletes committed to competing at the highest levels of the sport. Registered as a Premier Club with Table Tennis England, the Academy offers up to 12 hours of intensive coaching each week, preparing players for national ranking tournaments, county representation, British League competition and international opportunities.

As Bede’s catering partner, Holroyd Howe plays a role that extends far beyond serving meals. Every day, our teams create fresh, nutritious food designed to support concentration in the classroom, recovery after training and sustained energy throughout demanding school and sporting schedules.

## **Supporting Elite Young Athletes**

Among the Academy’s standout players is Bly Twomey, one of Britain’s most remarkable young sporting talents. At just 14 years old, Bly made history at the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games, becoming the youngest table tennis medallist in Paralympic history after securing bronze medals in both the Class 7 Singles and Women’s Class 14 Doubles events. She is also the current European Para Champion in Class 7 Singles and Mixed Doubles and was recognised with the prestigious Victor Barna Award in 2026 for the most notable performance by an English player.

As Bly prepares for the ITTF World Para Table Tennis Championships 2026 in Thailand this November, she represents the ambition, dedication and resilience that define the Academy. We are incredibly proud to support athletes like Bly through our sponsorship and through the food we provide every day at Bede’s.

She is joined by a growing group of impressive young players, including brothers Gabriel Church and Raphael Church, who have risen into England’s top 10 rankings for their age groups, alongside Liam Higgins, currently ranked eighth nationally for his age category. Together, they demonstrate the calibre of talent being developed within the Academy.

## **Nutrition That Supports Performance**

For young athletes balancing elite sport with academic commitments, nutrition is essential. Our chefs work hard to ensure pupils have access to fresh, balanced meals that help support physical development, cognitive performance and overall wellbeing.

Whether it’s a nutritious breakfast ahead of morning lessons, a protein-rich lunch between classes and training sessions, or healthy snacks to aid recovery, every menu is designed with pupil wellbeing at its heart. Importantly, we achieve this while delivering the outstanding taste and quality that young people genuinely enjoy.

Our approach aligns perfectly with Bede’s commitment to helping every pupil pursue what they love while achieving their full potential. By creating dining experiences that nourish, energise and inspire, we help provide the foundation for success both on and off the table tennis table.

## **A Partnership Built on Excellence**

The values of the Bede’s Table Tennis Academy closely mirror those of Holroyd Howe through our shared committed to developing talent, nurturing ambition and creating environments where young people can thrive.

Through our sponsorship of the Academy and our ongoing partnership as Bede’s catering provider, we are proud to support a programme that is already producing outstanding athletes and providing a pathway to national and international success.

As players like Bly Twomey continue their journey towards the world’s biggest competitions, we look forward to playing our part in fuelling their ambitions and celebrating their achievements for years to come.

> *“Our partnership with Bede’s School spans many years, and throughout that time we have shared a commitment to helping young people achieve their full potential. We are incredibly proud to support the exceptional athletes of the Bede’s Table Tennis Academy, not only through our sponsorship but through the fresh, nutritious food we provide every day. Watching athletes excel on the national and international stage is inspiring, and it reinforces the important role that education, opportunity and great nutrition play in helping young people pursue their ambitions. We are privileged to be part of their journey and look forward to celebrating many more successes in the years ahead.”*
