Holroyd Howe’s Partnership with Brentwood School
We partnered closely with Brentwood School to enhance the boarding and Sixth Form environment in a way that strengthened both pupil experience and the school’s wider hospitality proposition. This collaborative approach centred on developing a shared vision for key spaces, reimagining layouts, improving flow, and creating environments that reflect the school’s commitment to wellbeing, community, and a strong sense of place. The result is a refreshed offer that supports pupils’ daily routines while contributing to a more cohesive and commercially aligned onsite experience.
Enhancing the Pupil Experience
A refreshed café-style environment has become a central hub and social space for Sixth Formers, offering a contemporary, comfortable setting that mirrors the environments young people naturally choose outside school. Improvements across the boarding areas provide greater flexibility throughout the day, creating smoother services and a warm, inviting atmosphere that enhances both wellbeing and the overall value of the Brentwood experience.
Feedback from the school community reflects this impact:
Bursar: “The partnership with Holroyd Howe has significantly enhanced our retail offer for pupils.”
Director of Sixth Form: “The space feels like a home from home.”
Pupil: “It feels like a real café you’d find on the high street, so we don’t need to leave school anymore.”
Strengthening the Hospitality Offer
We worked with Brentwood to create a consistent, high-quality hospitality experience throughout the school day. Improvements to service flow and space design have helped deliver environments that are not only enjoyable for pupils but operationally smooth and supportive for staff.
In partnership with Brentwood, we made the decision to introduce our sister company, Benugo, to establish a distinctive café identity within the Sixth Form area. The ethos of a Benugo café aligns seamlessly with the contemporary, pupil-focused environment Brentwood wanted to create. The introduction of a clear café concept strengthens the school’s broader hospitality offer by encouraging greater engagement and increased on-site use. This choice supports Brentwood’s commercial aims by elevating the Sixth Form provision and enriching the school’s wider social spaces.
Partnership
To ensure alignment with the school’s long-term objectives, this project was delivered through a collaborative approach involving regular reviews and open communication. Brentwood’s continued commitment to their partnership with Holroyd Howe reflects the trust, consistency, and shared purpose that underpin the relationship. Working hand-in-hand has enabled the creation of not only a more enjoyable atmosphere for pupils but also a more efficient, effective, and commercially sustainable model for Brentwood’s hospitality provision.
