Nutrition
It goes without saying that healthy eating in schools is vital. When every meal is balanced and nutritious, growing pupils thrive. To ensure this, our qualified nutritionists play an essential role, including developing and reviewing menus, providing dietary guidance, and offering nutrition education for pupils and parents, as well as training for our own teams.
Nutrition in the classroom
We go the extra mile by helping teachers bring nutrition and sports nutrition into the curriculum, as well as running classes for GCSE, A Level and BTEC students. Most of all, we believe in making nutrition fun and engaging. Our interactive workshops and campaigns drive home the message that we really are what we eat.
Nutrition education plays a vital role in the health and wellbeing of pupils, promoting healthy-eating habits that stay with them for life. We keep students engaged throughout the school year with a variety of activities – from assemblies and classroom workshops to lunchtime pop-ups, hands-on sessions, tasting tables, and story-time sessions and treasure hunts for the youngest pupils. By offering continuous learning opportunities, we keep the subject of nutrition fresh and interesting, helping your pupils make the right food choices for the right reasons.

Sports nutrition
Our performance nutritionist teams up with a semi-professional footballer to provide tailored nutrition support for young athletes. This includes customising meals to meet the specific needs of each gender, and providing the right nutrients to fuel up before an event, refuel afterwards and aid recovery.
Through our sports-nutrition education, pupils and parents gain valuable knowledge on how nutrition affects athletic performance. Topics such as energy balance, macronutrient requirements and hydration feature in theory sessions – and we support these with practical guidance on healthy meals for pupils when they’re training and on competition days.

Mission Nutrition
Accredited by the Association for Nutrition, our Mission Nutrition training for our employees provides the understanding we all need to prioritise healthy eating on our menus. The programme also includes educating pupils and staff on the importance of nutrition, so they become ambassadors, passing on food knowledge and working nutritional practices into school life.

Don't just take our word for it…
Holroyd Howe has been the school caterer since 2017. The saying attributed to Napoleon, ‘An army marches on its stomach’, is equally true for a school – and so the catering team at Bishopsgate is integral to our staff, and its meals, snacks and match teas form part of the Prep School experience. Also, the wider Holroyd Howe team has helped educate the pupils on sustainability and waste. We are very happy to have Holroyd Howe as partners.
